Good familiarity with a web browser.
This is a bespoke course.
The aim of the training is to install and configure a new instance of MediaWiki together during the training and to install selected extensions later.
The choice of extensions as well as other expectations can be discussed in a short pre-training meeting.
The course would be based on these two courses:
- MediaWiki for Content Editors:
https://www.nobleprog.co.uk/cc/mwedit1 - Administering MediaWiki:
https://www.nobleprog.co.uk/cc/mwadm
It will be divided into two functional parts.
The first one is intended for editors to properly use tools and templates to create and manage content.
The second one focuses on the work of administrators, both in overseeing what is happening in MediaWiki as well as maintaining the server, its security, installing updates and new extensions.
Duration of the course is currently set at two days (14 hours), but a third day could be added, depending on the further customisation needed.
Including Semantic MediaWiki as part of this course is not recommended, at least not at this stage. This is a fundamentally different piece of software, even though it looks similar to traditional MediaWiki. Instead, the trainer suggested discussing the Cargo extension, which is a lightweight way to store and query data from template-based pages. This makes it a user-friendly solution.
