Overview: 

The aim of this course is to provide a deeper understanding of agile and digital in a local government context. After exploring digital and agile, mindset and behaviours, the course will explore some of the main agile methods, techniques and tools and show how they can be used effectively in digital delivery.  Delivery is through a mixture of presentations, exercises and interactive activities and can be conducted in person or remote.

The course will also consider the latest guidance in the UK public sector around agile delivery and the GDS standard.

  • Experience sharing (retrospection)
  • Agile in Government, history and principles
  • Value delivery via agile 
  • User centred design to focus on user needs

Day 2

  • The Scrum framework
  • The lean-agile Kanban method
  • Backlogs, user stories, estimating and focussing on value
  • Agile teams, product ownership and servant leadership
  • Governance and measuring progress 
  • Tools for successful delivery
