It is understood that the Goldman Sachs team requires Tableau training to commence from a basic level.

Licences:

Half days 1-4:

  • The training will be run using Tableau public on DaDesktop (no participant licenses required)

Half days 5, 6 and 8:

  • The training will be run using Tableau public on DaDesktop, and on participants' machines with full Tableau Desktop

Half day 7:

  • Participants will need to load Tableau Prep (comes free with Tableau Desktop, Creator licenses)

It is assumed the participants will have Tableau Desktop licenses (Creator)

The need for training stems from a number of new starters at Goldman Sachs requiring Tableau skills from basic to intermediate level, with bespoke content being added to support specific roles.

The course content can be delivered as a series of half days, single days, two x 2 day courses or a 4 day block.

  2. Types of data
  3. Saving your work
  4. Connecting to local and server data sources
  5. Mixing data sources

Half Day 2

  1. Calculations overview
  2. Table calculations
  3. Enabling data drill down
  4. Working with dates, time series and time based forecasts

Day 2:

Half Day 3

  1. Using multiple measures in a single view
  2. Working with trend lines
  3. Building forecast models
  4. Sets and groups

Half Day 4

  1. Working with maps and background images
  2. Filtering measures and dimensions
  3. Data cleansing in Tableau Desktop

Day 3:

Half Day 5

  1. Working with reference lines
  2. Building dashboards
  3. Building stories
  4. Publishing dashboards and stories

Half Day 6

  1. Level of detail calculations
  2. Advanced table calculations
  3. Introduction to working with R and Tableau

Day 4:
