Day 1

Introduction

What is GIS

Layers, attributes, features, selections, attribute tables – practical exercises

Projection and coordinate systems

Metadata

Working with vector data - applying and visualizing spatial data, identifying features and values, creating selections, zooming and measuring, editing – practical exercises

Working with raster data - displaying rasters, merging rasters, resampling and reclassifying rasters, clipping a raster, extracting raster value points, geo-referencing a raster – practical exercises

Working with open data available for UK – practical exercises

Intro to open 3D data (SRTM etc.) – practical exercises

Day 2

Basic 3D analysis focusing on environmental issues like hydrology, basins, extraction of the catchment area, humidity etc. – practical exercises

Intro to QField app

Field measurements – practical exercises

Creating maps using data collected via QField – practical exercises

Using map layouts, creating legends, implementing scale bars and titles, exporting and printing maps
